From the moment eight-year-old Payton picked up her first bass guitar in Calgary, Alberta, her musical voyage began. With every string she played her love for music deepened, embracing genres from funk to jazz. This early passion set the stage for a lifetime dedicated to the rhythms that move us.
On Stage and Beyond
By the age of eighteen, Payton had already graced many of Calgary's famed stages, such as the King Eddy, the Palace Theatre and the Ironwood Stage and Grill. Her summer at Berklee College of Music’s Aspire program in Boston marked a pivotal moment, enhancing her skills in funk and performance with other talented musicians.
Dreams and Aspirations
Payton is heading to the University of Southern California's Thornton School of Music to study Popular Music, where she will continue developing her artistry and preparing for a career as an esteemed session and live bass player.
Her commitment to music extends far beyond the stage. Passionate about making music accessible to everyone, Payton plans to inspire the next generation by teaching at the local music school where she once volunteered, giving back to the community that helped shape her own musical journey.
Drawing inspiration from legendary artists such as Flea, Victor Wooten, and Stevie Wonder, Payton is driven by a deep love of performance, creativity, and connection. Whether laying down unforgettable bass grooves in the studio and on stage or captivating audiences with the soulful power of her voice, she is determined to leave a lasting mark on the music world while continuing to reach for the stars.
